“…appeareth in the Form of a Beautiful woman, with a Duchess\u2019s Crown tied about her waist, and riding on a Great Camel. His Office is to tell of all things Past, Present, and to Come; and of Treasures Hid, and what they lie in; and to procure the Love of Women both Young and Old.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gremory is one of those spirits who draws a lot of attention and respect, and it\u2019s easy to see why. Known for her divinatory powers, her ability to reveal hidden treasures, and her influence in matters of love, she is both regal and approachable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Goetia, Gremory appears as a beautiful woman wearing a Duchess\u2019s crown and riding a great camel. Interestingly, while she manifests in feminine form, the text refers to her as \u201che,\u201d a reflection of the Goetia\u2019s tendency to masculinise spirits. Yet her appearance is firmly and strikingly feminine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Connolly links Gremory with goddesses of knowledge and writing such as Seshat or Delepitorae, though less intense. She recounts an experience where Gremory revealed the location of a lost item in a place she had already searched three times\u2014suggesting an affinity with household spirits who hide objects to encourage order and attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mirta Wake describes her as direct and blunt. If she does not deem you worthy, she simply won\u2019t linger. Gremory isn\u2019t one to indulge uncertainty; she expects competence and clarity from those who approach her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jehannum expands on her range, placing her over divination in all its forms; geomancy, necromancy, pyromancy, hydromancy, and beyond. She strengthens astral sight and hearing, empowers the astral double, and even influences the weather. Gremory can also improve confidence, charisma, and seduction, and can inspire both caring affection and commanding intimidation. Interestingly, Jehannum also notes her association with trades like theft, assassination, drug-dealing, and bodyguarding\u2014a darker aspect that sits alongside her more refined qualities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Goetia Ritual<\/em> commentary paints her symbolism as rich with meaning. The Duchess\u2019s crown and the camel represent dignity, temperance, and royalty, but they are also tied to serpentine and draconic associations.
