His Office is to sow Discords. If the Exorcist have not a care he will slay both him and his fellows.”

Andras is one of the Goetia’s sharper edges: a martial, malefic figure whose work centres on confrontation, disruption and fierce clearing. He will resolve stuck situations, but often by force, by tearing open the rot so something new can begin. Approach him with respect, solid ritual structure, and a clear exit strategy.

Andras can be called upon in several practical ways. He has the power to drive people into confrontation, which can quickly bring entrenched conflicts to a head and force resolution, whether for better or worse. If a fast, decisive outcome is needed rather than slow mediation, he creates the conditions for that shift. Classical accounts also link him to removing enemies, displacing rivals, and clearing paths through forceful means, making him a spirit to work with when obstacles stand in your way. He also has the ability to reveal hostile forces working in the shadows, exposing who might be acting against you. When invoked alongside other powerful spirits, Andras can further augment strength and influence, giving a practitioner a significant edge in aggressive or protective work.

Sources disagree on tone and emphasis. The Goetia emphasises his malefic, martial aspect; Connolly frames him as a useful agent for resolution, even if that resolution takes the form of confrontation. Some modern commentators trace his origin back to Zoroastrian and Indic archetypes (the name echoes Andra/Indra), linking him with warfare and lightning. Jehannum presents him as a watchful psychopomp and teacher of necromantic and lethal arts — blunt, dominant and not for casual summoning. Mirta Wake warns strongly: Andras handles death energy and malefic work; don’t call him unless you know exactly what you’re doing.

Symbolism:

Black knight / raven head: a figure of deathly authority — messenger and harbinger, combining martial discipline with the raven’s liminal, prophetic aspect.

Black wolf mount: hunger, predatory focus, speed and intelligence; the wolf is a facilitator of ferocity rather than a mindless beast.

Sword: clear, decisive action — a severing instrument that cuts ties, reveals truth, and forces movement.
Together, these images show a spirit built for decisive rupture rather than gradual persuasion.

Andras is not a spirit for beginners, and working with him requires serious caution. He should only be approached by experienced operators, as his influence is fast, literal, and often dramatic. Any petition made to him must be precise and clearly defined, since vague requests can spiral into harmful or unintended consequences. Proper guardians and containment are essential, which means having threshold guardians, banishing protocols, and a firm dismissal formula firmly in place before calling him. If Andras is employed to remove obstacles or drive confrontation, it is wise to follow his work with stabilising or protective spirits to secure and balance the ground he clears. Finally, his methods are inherently aggressive, so the ethical weight of summoning him must be considered carefully—he should only be called when non-malefic options have been exhausted or when genuine defence of life is at stake.

Andras is a potent tool: efficient, uncompromising, and dangerous. He excels at cutting away what won’t change by gentle means, but he does so with teeth and a sword. For practitioners who truly need decisive rupture — and who can manage the fallout — Andras can be an effective, if severe, ally. If you’re uncertain, step back and choose a different spirit.

Correspondences:Dates: 13–21 DecemberDirection: SouthTarot: Ten of WandsPlanet: MoonMetal: SilverElement: AirColour: Violet or PurplePlant: VioletIncense: jasmineZodiac: 20°–30° SagittariusOther notes: cayenne pepper, iron, dragon’s blood, amber, mustard …

[1

post-407","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
