From the Goetia:

“He rideth on a pale horse with trumpets and other kinds of musical instruments playing before him. He is very furious at his first appearance, that is, while the Exorcist layeth his courage; for to do this he must hold a Hazel Wand in his hand, striking it out towards the South and East Quarters, make a triangle, D, without the Circle…”

“…causeth all the love that may be, both of Men and of Women, until the Master Exorcist hath had his desire fulfilled.”

Ford suggests to “silently create a triangle in the South and East Quarters”. I believe this to be an oversight or very bad interpretation. This would require you to create two triangles, on in the South Quarter and one in the East Quarter. The Ars Goetia says “striking out towards the South and East Quarters, make a triangle” meaning that you strike out to both Quarters with the hazel wand and make a triangle outside the circle in that direction, i.e. the southeast. However, also experiment with the triangle in the opposite direction of northwest, and Beleth’s directions are North and West. The Ars Goetia does not actually state which direction to place the triangle.

Beleth is often summoned as a lust demon, however his skills are better suited to finding a soul mate, and therefore a long term relationship. That is not to say that lust is not required in a long term relationship. Quite often passion disappears after some time, so Beleth can be called to ignite the fires of passion once again.

He is also good concerning counsel about matters of the heart and helping to bring rational thinking to highly emotional situations regarding loved ones. Another aspect that Beleth is skilled in is to give counsel to people grieving after the loss of a loved one, and to bring stability and comfort.
