The Lore of the Fetch

Agnesse says:

“As you have heard, reality is actually many different levels of awareness. Your own mind is part of each of those levels to a lesser or greater extent, and it flows from one to the other along tides of life and death, and other tides, such as sleep and waking. To allow your mind to flow to these states only by natural tides is to be an ordinary person. To use other means to make your mind flow to these states is to be a Witch.

On all the many levels, you have a presence. When viewed from one level, such as our world, your other “selves” can seem like separate entities. This is the lore of the Fetch.

The Fetch is the term used to describe the totality of your whole being, from the aspects of yourself that you do know, that is, your body, your waking mind, and your sense of self identity, to the aspects that are hidden from you…your Fetch-Lover, your Fetch-Animal or Familiar spirit, your Shade, your Soul, and so on.

You, as a being, are not male or female, truly. The “soul” is both, although from time to awareness-time, it changes it’s focus.

For a Man, it is the hidden female power in him that becomes the Fetch-Wyf, also called the Fae-wyf. Not only does she represent that thing that he longs for union with…(and this longing leads him to seek that union from other mortal women) but she is also that being that stands between him and the true soul of the matter…The All-Mother herself. For the Fetch in its totality is only a reflection of the Great Mother.

For women, the hidden male part of her awareness takes form as the Fetch-Husband, or Fae-husband, and he is that being deep within that she calls “God”…For when a man or woman becomes united with their other-self, an experience that can only be described in terms of a deeply spiritual sexual union, They regain the lost wholeness of the Self, and gain great power or wisdom from the union.

It is the Fetch-lover that sometimes greets a person after death, to guide them to Elfhame. To most dead, who still cling to the notion that they are separate individuals, this spirit may not be recognized for what it is, and they will treat it as an outsider spirit come to help them, maybe an ancestor, or to a Christian, an angel. but it is really another part of themselves, come to guide them into their next experience.

The Human is also an animal. Our animal side is called the Animal Fetch, or the Puckerel. It is a savage and wild, yet exceedingly powerful aspect of our being, and it is part of your fetch as well. The Animal Fetch is also called the familiar spirit. The animalistic side of ourselves is often labeled by Christians “The devil” but this is a ridiculous evasion. The Fetch-Animal is that source of natural power that can be met and befriended, and through it, great works of witchery may be accomplished. For to befriend, that is, to accept, the animal side of our nature is to bring it under control and turn its great power to our advantage, and not allow it to harm us with its sometimes reckless, sometimes selfish urges. To identify with your familiar is to put yourself in touch with the power of nature in a very direct way.

The Animal Fetch can appear as any animal, and the type of animal that appears to you speaks much about the identity of your ancestors. More will be said later on this matter. All witches seek their familiar…soon enough.”
